Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are Cha Dao Teas 100 % USDA “Organic”?
A: No. However, we use the following organic ingredients in our bottled teas:C&H Sugar - 100% Certified Organic Crystallized Cane Juice made from organically grown cane. Organic Certified by Quality Assurance International
Sencha Green Tea - 100% JONA (Japan Organic & Natural Foods Association) Certified Organic
Kaladi Brothers Red Goat Blend Coffee - Certified Organic by Organic Crop Improvement Association International
We select our teas based on the quality of the tea leaves. However, many organic tea leaves are not to the standards of quality that we require. This is because we use tea leaves from top tea estates that are already recognized for their consistent quality. These tea estates farm in time-honored traditions.
We will continue to evaluate the use of organic tea leaves in our products and use them when they meet our quality standards & become cost effective.
Q: Are Cha Dao Teas Fair Trade™ certified?
A: No, Cha Dao teas originate in developed countries like Japan, Taiwan and China. The farmers in these countries already receive top price for their products(often even higher than U.S. agricultural products).Q: Why are the Cha Dao Teas bottled in plastic?
A: We bottle our collection of teas in recyclable P.E.T. #1 (Polyethylene terephthalate) bottles. P.E.T. #1 bottles are generally considered the safest single-use plastic-bottle choice on the market today. In addition, we weighed the pros and cons of glass containers vs. plastic containers and learned that recyclable plastic bottles weigh less and therefore consume less fossil fuel to transport than glass containers. Since these are unbreakable, you can take our bottled teas to places glass containers cannot go.
